What's next


It's finally time, to show what we have been working on. But before we begin we want to share our experience with game development over the last few months.

First of all, thanks for being so patient with us! ❤️

Upon the release of our latest version of Timberwoods, we were not satisfied with the quality of this patch compared to the one before. While we learnt a lot in terms of map design, art, coding and much more thanks to you and your amazing feedback, we didn't know where to go next. That was also the time RPG Maker Unite released. So we looked deeper into RPGM Unite but that engine too wasn't what we were looking for.

So we began brainstorming on how we could improve on Timberwoods and make it something much better for you to enjoy.
So we compared many other developing tools and environments. That's when we decided to take a look at GameMaker Studio as well as some other handy pixel art tools!
Even though we had a bit of a learning curve, which delayed development for some time, we got something working pretty fast.
In the end we decided to fully switch to GMS because it allowed us to make everything how we want it to be. Even if we had to rethink everything from scratch. Which is basically what we did!

So we took our first step into our new Project!

We are happy to present:



Story

You take the role of Kaelin, an adventurous fox that is part of an Eborian special unit tasked with retrieving back rogue Ebonshapes. These latex-like sentient beings, created by Eborians, are able to assimilate and transform other life forms.

To prepare for these missions, Kaelin undergoes regular training inside a simulation.

The game takes place during one of these training sessions... but Ebonshapes are not the only entities for Kaelin to be catious of within this simulation.

Gameplay

The gameplay in Altered happens in real-time. No more round based combat as we switch over to an action focused gameplay.

Kaelin is able to manipulate the latent magic around himself, using it to his advantage both in battle and puzzle-like scenarios. With new abilities waiting for you to be unlocked and used to progress.

But having action combat didn't stop us from keeping the core concept of grapples from Timberwoods.
During his time inside the simulation Kaelin can be the target of both physical and arousing attacks. If Kaelin gets too horny he is going to be subject to enemies grabbing him for some more fun.
Best to enjoy these scenarios... he is a fox after all.

Last Words

This new project is our first step into a new engine. And while we have plans to rework Timberwoods the same way, we first want to get even more familiar with GMS. Aww, I like Tibo and tribal or medieval style adventure a lot. Loincloths, werewolves with spears and such is awesome, you know :D

But its alright too.

I have only recently gotten into these sorts of games so I'm curious how long it usually takes to make something like this because it looks really complicated and probably kind of hard. Also when you say asap do you mean like a week, a month, a year, longer or something in-between.

It usually took us a few month to get new content done in rpg maker. Thats mostly due to art. But since we made a switch to game maker a few months ago it takes a bit longer this time because we basically needed to code everything from scratch.

Ooo, will we able to be assimilated and continue playing or will assimilation result in a game over? I'd prefer if it did not, rather resulting in a new route or something, but that's just me..

We plan to rework Timberwoods in GMS though with some changes for stuff we werent happy with. So dont worry, Tibo will still be around. He will just take a small break
